Mediterranean vegetation, migrating birds, flowing rivers, green pastures – these are just a few of the attractions you can enjoy on bicycle tours in the region. You can choose from a range of difficulty levels so that you can suit your excursion level to the needs of your group.
The following information is intended for those who love a challenge and are looking for a challenging tour with a high level of difficulty and who aren’t afraid of a little mud along the way.
The Red Trail
It is recommended to do this excursion about four days following a rainfall. The length ranges between 20-36 KM. There are several entry spots to the path: Ein Zeitim car park, Jish village, Rabin car park or Kerem Ben Zimrah. It is possible to do a circular ride of 20 KM, and an additional section can be added that surrounds Matityahu Farm so that the combined length of the path is 26 KM. The shape of the additional section is like the figure 8. It is a challenging course, especially difficult and suited to those who are used to bike riding. The starting point for this path is Ein Zeitim car park and it follows a winding route, 20 KM long, to Dalton lake. There it joins the route that begins in Gush Chalav.
The Green Trail
A circular path that runs past the remains of an ancient synagogue. The path begins in Jish on a gravel road in the direction of Gush Halav. About 300 meters to the east of this path are the remains of the Gush Halav ancient synagogue. At its time of origin, this building was especially impressive as can be seen from the remains that are here. Decorated columns can be seen as well as an inscription engraved in Aramaic. This inscription is dedicated to Yosei son of Nahum. The front of this ancient synagogue faces Jerusalem and is built in large stones. There is also an eagle relief with spread wings and a pair of wreaths hanging from its sides.
The trail continues downwards along the bed of the Gush Halav stream and is moist and steep. The river must be crossed on foot. Continue to the junction where Gush Halav and Dishon meet and cross over to the “Shvil Yisra’el” (Israel National Trail) markings. Before Dishon’s underground passageway, turn west onto a steep upwards gravel path and ride for about one and a half kilometers until you reach Rabin car park in the Baram forest. The Baram forest reserve is covered in natural thicket of common oak. The trees in the reserve are large and grow together densely, providing cool temperatures in the reserve all year round. The reserve is abundant in shade and moisture which encourages the speedy growth of the vegetation and the ground in winter is covered in mushrooms.
This circular path continues with paths marked in blue and then black and reaches the point where “Shvil Yisra’el” meets the Tzivon stream. There, turn right and ride for around 400 meters along the “Shvil Yisra’el” trail.
This trail is definitely intended for those who love riding and love a challenge. Amirim invites you “adrenaline lovers” to enjoy one of our pampering zimmers and combine a wonderful vacation with a challenging, enjoyable experience accompanied by the breath taking views this area has to offer.
